Hey, you
I hope that this will be fine
In echo of the way you asked;
In memory of the moments spent, when last
We were together outside time
Surprised, and softly through the greys.
Hey, you
I hope you know how much I miss
The scent of you; your laugh; your skin
Redolent with every flavour of our time between
The lines of right and want; us – this
Nestled softly through the greys
Hey you,
I hope the nows and nexts won’t stop
But lead to blue-sky times of golden bright
Indulgent lightning-eyed time, tangled night
Kept quiet, treasured under key and lock
Safely, softly through the greys
Hey you
I hope your heart will clear your sight
And thus released will be so glad you came
As we forget the room, our words, our names
Love-bitten, ecstasy’s mark made right
Calling, softly through the greys
Hey, you
I hope you’ll feel alright
If my wish is for one more fragrant dream
Another chance to make-believe a truth unseen
Blurred lines as shadows fall black-white
Smudging softly through the greys
Hey, you
I hope you truly know
Whatever path we follow through or lose
I’ve no regrets; no past I wouldn’t choose
No expectations, just, if you say so:
Loving, softly through the greys.
FIRST – That is just beautiful. No more words, just smiling.

Rats. I meant to comment a second time, and it didn’t seem to go through. Beautiful poetry as always, Star. I don’t know how you do it, and the fact that every time I read one, I’m in awe is pretty amazing.

Awwwh I hate when that happens. Squishy, mine, I think it must be because I’ve been writing poems for so many years…all that practice has paid off. I love how much you love them though. Thank you for saying so 💛💛💛

And I don’t love poetry, so it says a lot for your writing.

Thank you so much, Sweetie 😉 You know I’m always up for blurring a few lines with you (though I doubt maple syrup makes them grey so much as just…sticky hee hee)

My age, grey hair, and last stanza line gave this poem a rich meaning. “As we forget the room, our words, our names” and “If my wish is for one more fragrant dream
Another chance to make-believe a truth unseen” echo in my heart.

Thank you Beth, I’m glad you enjoyed it so much. I love the versatility of poetry and the way it’s so open to interpretation and subject to the overlay of people’s own experiences. I really like how you translated it – in a way I had never thought of; my mindset whilst writing was entirely stuck in the grey areas between black and white lines! What fun 🙂 Thank you for sharing your take.

[…] Prompted by a consider-inducing post about vision boards, I thought for about 13 seconds about what my board would have on it, should I choose to create one. Initially I thought about putting a map of America on it, but that’s too blunt; too black-and-white, and as you well know, I tend to be far better at spending life muddling around, softly through the greys. Heheheh thanks 🙂 I’m still astonished (and so happy) about all the different ways my poems can be interpreted. I love that about poetry.

I got speaking to a friend about this last night, and realised that maybe as young as six, I was a little bit in love with poetry. You sparked off a fascinating train of thought – thank you 🙂

Oh I love when that happens like a good word prompt for writing. I was writing songs and poetry at age 7 I encourage my kids to use their imaginations. I think we all should be great storytellers. 😊

I post on my blog sometimes and I have a notebook full of it that I’ve never published. I make quote pictures too.

I like making them for my posts as the featured image, and sometimes I add them on pintrest to try to share my blog a bit, but I think they mostly go unnoticed.
