I sit alone in a halfway hall of strangers
Silent, listening to their mirrored voices
Weaving excitement, yearning, laughs, exhaustion
Melodic notes spun into foreign air
I knew I’d no connection but took my phone
To hold, to know the time within your ‘zone
Vast hours apart; my heart yawned into chasm
Broken again, with half of it left there
I bring borrowed moments alive with stolen pen
What stretch will pass ’til I reach your arms again?
Thus why you’d prefer something else for me, I imagine
To have the ‘All’s would be whole-r; feel more fair.
In hazy Now, my mind fills with your name
The spotted snow reflects my impure flame
Half-sated, knowing you can’t be my portion
Love sparking, but won’t say how much I care
So on this lonely day of hearts and roses
I take scant comfort knowing how I chose this
Irrelevant? ‘Gainst a future so uncertain
My soul wide-eyed in this love’s headlight glare.
Yet with the pain of love comes greater living
And life unlived would be far less forgiving
There ne’er were love that someone wasn’t hurt in
So I will live, and love the time we share.
❤
This is beautifully written, Sparkly-Hearted one. ❤

Awh thank you so much. My heart’s a bit low on sparkle right now – I need to get it back. Need to fight the jetlag, fight the despondency, and keep fighting to come back home.

I have the love of my friends and family. They’ll get me through. I just need to be open to being ‘got’ 🙂

You are sunshine. You’ll see that. One day. ❤ This is beautiful. Happy Valentine's Day. You sparkle no matter your time zone, by the way. It's true.

I hope so, my sweet friend. And I hope you’re there to see it, as you’ve been helping me find my ‘brightshiny’ side for so long.
Glad you think it’s beautiful. And happy Valentines day to you, too. Miss you huge already but SO glad to have plans for return 🙂
I’ll keep sparkling as much as I can 💓

What to say of this sweetness touched with sad and longing, and, I suspect more than a little fatigue of travel? Only one answer – There ain’t no free lunch and LOVE is always worth the price. You do shine, even through clouds..

Oh, there was *definitely* a whole lot of travel fatigue in there, and too-sharp-still loss, and sadness, and all the things. *sigh*
You’re right though – love is ALWAYS worth it. For reals. And thank you for thinking me shiny 🙂

Thanks so much Nicole. Quite honestly I need all the love I can get while I feel so ‘a million miles away’ from my heart’s home *sigh*
I’m coming back though. For absolute certain 🙂

Love this: “Yet with the pain of love comes greater living
And life unlived would be far less forgiving” and also “hazy Now.” You do have a way with words and emotions.

Thank you. I like that bit too, and in fact, it was a last-minute add-on, as I wrote it from my notepad into here, because I didn’t want to end on a negative note, with the verse before. (well, if not negative, then ambiguous…and either way I prefer ending with hope) 🙂

I love hopeful endings and I know you, of all people, have a sparkled life ahead.

Thank you ❤ I think I most definitely have a sparkled life, even if this hope is a fizzly-out one 🙂
