Let me lift you up to the mountaintops
Where icy powdered snow and gleaming clouds
Fill vast space with shining beauty.
Against the backdrop of their stillness
No problem seems to shout so loud
I wish you were there.
Let me plunge you into sparkling seas
To twist and spin with playful seals
Immerse yourself in indigo; let it cradle you
Be entertained by jellyfish and whales
Enjoy the cool, blue way the ocean heals
I wish you were there.
Let me settle you in deep, bright meadows
Where wildflowers like courtiers surround
Your resting place in warm, sun-gilded grass
Glinting colours, butterflies, birds and scented breeze
Reflect the gentle, glowing place you’ve found
I wish you were there.
Let me walk with you on sandy shores
Leave footprints along the shell-strewn beach
Have gentle, froth-kissed waves about your feet
Seagulls cry of freedom, salt and sun
Revel in the sense that everything’s in reach
I wish you were there.
Let me take you up to starry skies
From here, the Earth a swirling green-blue ball
Look out to infinity; the moon is yours
Float freely through a thousand spangled galaxies
Such distance renders troubles very small
I wish you were there.
Let me paint your world with glorious hues
Dawn’s freshness, midday’s warmth and sunset’s haze
I’d bestow the best of nature upon you if I could
And wrap you up in all the wonders of the world
May light and life and beauty be in all your days
I wish you were there.
For my dear friend Mandi, because I can’t make it better in any other way.
Beautiful! Simply Beautiful!

Thanks so much Susan, and thanks for sharing it on Twitter – it got picked up by a ‘Haiku Today’ poetry paper online š

Lizzi, thank you. I don’t know if I have words to reach your comment expectation on this one. I’m speechless. I love it. I’d walk along a beach with you any day, and I’m certain it would make everything better. When the stars aligned, and we met, I think I drew the long stick. If that’s an “merican reference that you don’t understand, it means I won, and I know it, and I’m so very grateful for it.

I have no expectations, my friend – I’m just always pleased to see anything you’re happy to write to me. I’m so very glad you liked this. I know it’s not much but it’s all I could do. Silly, perhaps, but I hope it was a bit cheering.
Is your ‘Murican reference the opposite of the English ‘drawing the short straw’ (which means that you lost, and you get whatever sucky thing no-one else wanted)? In which case, I am honoured you think so highly of me. It may interest you to know that this week I asked about dates for my trip, and I think they’re gonna be okay! Last three weeks of Sept 2015 – fingers crossed. So there’s that. And in the meantime, there’s the unmappable place between all geography and several worlds, where poetry and happiness and the beach, all exist together, and it doesn’t matter about location cos you can go there any time š
I wish you well, and I hope your week gets better.

Isn’t it telling how, when we need healing, we turn to nature. For comfort, there is food and silly entertainment, but for true restoration, we go back to the earth.
This was beautiful. Since I can’t seem to get through one of your poems without a line shivving me in the soul, this time it was: “Float freely through a thousand spangled galaxies”

There’s a reason, I’m quite sure. At our centre we are creatures, just like everything else, and it is in creation and the raw wilds that we find our true selves, to an extent. We’re designed for these things to resonate deeply with us – humans have been looking up at the stars and contemplating their own being, for as long as there have been stars and mankind to stare into the heavens.
I’m glad you like it so much, Jennie. And talking of poetry, how might you be fixed to take a slot on Bards either next friday (27th) or the first week in July?
I’m glad you got a soul-shivving moment, though I hope it wasn’t as violent as that sounds š

I agree completely. I could bard the first Friday in July, since I’ll be over at Laura’s on the 27th. And the only shiv that can pierce the soul is made of unexpected joy or pain. Since this time it was joy, we’re all good.

That sounds brilliant. I’LL TAKE IT š
And good. I’m SO glad it was a joyful shivving.

I’m glad to know she liked it so much. It felt like the very least I could do in a cheering uppy kind of way. Well, it *was*…til ‘later that day’ š
I’m pleased you like the poem so much, too – thank you š It was an enjoyable one to write.
(and pffft *blush* fanx – I do my best, yaknow?)

I’m so pleased you like it, Jak – thank you! I love that you can almost see it – I try very hard (sometimes) to ‘write in H’ and this was one of those times – I mean, I was hoping for HD, IMAX, Surround Sound, but ‘intense imagery’ is pretty good, I think š Brilliant

bwahaha IMAX… I miss that, actually. We don’t yet have an IMAX theatre here.

IMAX screens are these glorious, huge things that are really something to view a movie on. I have been to one in Spokane, WA, and at the Polynesian Cultural Center near BYU-Hawaii on Oahu. Oh, and I believe Vancouver, B.C., too, but I’m not sure. Make it a point to see an IMAX movie at least once in your lifetime– I think it’s worth it.

Thanks so much Kitt š And you’re right – I do care, so very much *shrugs* there’s only so much you can do over the internet when a friend’s having a crappy time. This is one of the few things I *can* do.

Gorgeous, SW. I loved this one – “immerse yourself in indigo, let it cradle you” but the whole thing was lovely and such a sweet gesture.
