#OctPoWriMo Day 13-If I Were You

If I Were You

By Jesi Scott

If I were you

If you were me

Perhaps you’d see

Perhaps you’d be

The one I’d crave

The one to save

Save my life

Save my world

World in my heart

World torn apart

Apart from this

Apart and dismissed

Dismissed from here

Dismissed to disappear

Disappear from life

Disappear from view

View my hurt

View my pain

Pain everlasting

Pain forecasting

Forecasting to amend

Forecasting the end

End the history

End my misery

Misery of us

Misery in exodus

Exodus of the end

Exodus to begin

Begin again

Begin and feign

Feign these feelings

Feign these meanings

Meanings that lie

Meanings that cry

Cry a river

Cry and deliver

Deliver the package

Deliver the message

Message left behind

Message that’s over

Over and out

Over and without

Without a word

Without a doubt

Doubt you

Doubt me

Me in truth

Me so obvious

* Day 13: to express to someone your point of view using a Blitz poem, not my favorite form. I decided to put more thought and interest in it by making it rhyme as much as I could and to try and make it a little more challenging.

    When I read these lines:

    “Meanings that cry

    Cry a river

    Cry and deliver”

Along side, a song played in memory’s ear.

  3. Hmm an interesting style, definitely made me think. Thank you for the poem.
Since you said this is not your favorite style, what is your favorite style. One poet to another

I’m a huge fan of terzanelles, villanelles, and generally forms with a set meter. I usually write in open form (free form) though. Still, when I do sit down to write in a specific form, these are my favorites. Pleiades poetry form is also a fave.

Cool, but tricky! Rather you than me there!

  5. Hi Jesi – thought I was following you but clearly not! (I am now!) This brought back nice memories of the October writing month 🙂

Well, poo on the not following back then and yay for the follow now. LoL
Yeah, I got sick towards the middle which screwed something else up inside and messed with the already existent thyroid issue so I ended up having to quit midway through. I’m only now feeling normal again after having both the flu AND bronchitis towards the end of January and into February. Its been a crazy end/beginning of year. Anyway, hoping to get back to writing very soon as I’m beginning to go nuts with all the on again/off again warm/cold weather Texas is experiencing lately. Definitely weirdest winter we’ve had ever.
