Sunset Heart

It would wrap you in words

Sweet as summer flowers

Gentle as a slumbering baby’s breath

Kind as the eyes of grazing cows

And friendly as the wag of a dog’s tail.

If my heart could weave

It would craft you protection –

A cloak of Good Truths,

Known Positives, and Hope;

It would cast it around your shoulders

Shielding you with light and beauty

Strengthening the best of you.

My heart is just a heart

No voice to tell your world better

No hands to weave your safety

It beats for breath and life and love

And your name silvers its edge;

Is nestled, treasured in its chambers

If all my heart can do is hold you

It will make safe space

Where you are forever welcome

Receiving you with delight

Always content in your presence
