I wrote you a love song

Because sometimes, whoever you are, you just NEED a love song. Especially if it’s for YOU.

Sunset Heart

Sometimes when you find
That you are down and feeling blue
And all the fairytales of life
Are just not coming true
Those days you try to hide
It feels like wrong is all you do
Just listen to these words
I wrote this love song all for you

Step into the sunshine, dear one
Step into the light
Let your worries fade away
Like shadows in the night
I’ll wrap you up in loving words
Send dreams to set you right
Step into the sunshine, dear one
Step into the light

I know that there’ll be days
When you completely fall apart
The world will keep you on your knees
And trample on your heart
Those days you want to die
Because there’s nothing left to do
Just listen to these words
I wrote this love song all for you

Step into the sunshine, dear one
Step into the light
Let your worries fade away
Like shadows in the night
I’ll wrap you up in loving words
Send dreams to set you right
Step into the sunshine, dear one
Step into the light

When you’re at your wit’s end
And there seems to be no hope
Those days when you suffocate
And ‘happy’ is a joke
Cos all you do is mess it up
You haven’t got a clue
Just listen to these words
I wrote this love song all for you

Step into the sunshine, dear one
Step into the light
Banish those anxieties
And let me hold you tight
Just know I need you every day
You make my world feel right
Step into the sunshine, dear one
Step into the light

What a great poem–has me all misty-eyed, clamping down to avoid a crying jag 🙂

    I know you didn’t write this specifically for me. In fact, specifically, you don’t even know me. But I am definitely one of those people that needs this today. Thank you, it is a beautiful song. {A}

Maybe not specifically, but if you needed to hear them, then they’re for you. I hope that your tomorrow is one surrounded in light and that you feel less like you need these words, and more able to live in the sunshine xo

  8. I was hoping there would be a video of you singing it! Just beautiful… I could hear your voice in it. And I picture you tinkering on my piano figuring out the tune while you sing it. 🙂 I love that I can picture that!

  9. Let me tell you something. This is like the only thing I’ve read today – or practically all week, for that matter. LOTS going on here and about an hour ago it all exploded in a full-on emotional meltdown. I’m trying to decompress, clicked over to my poor forgotten Twitter account for I have no idea what reason, and saw your tweet with this poem. Something made me read this and I swear it’s 100 percent exactly what I needed to read at this moment. I’d be crying right now, but I’m completely cried out right now. This may not have been about or for me at all, of course, but it works perfectly for me. So thank you.
And on that note, perhaps because of ALL THE THINGS that have been going on coupled with your words right now, I’m going to be able to sit and write and catch up on my OctPoWriMo entries and a few other things. This and my chat with Beth this week and a message from Sarah this week and a conversation with the Hub tonight have made all the difference.

Ohhh I’m so so glad, Lisa. I hate that pent-up, unmanageable feeling, and sometimes I think the dam just needs to burst. I’m glad this helped you to get some release and to be able to write again. I know you’ve really been struggling and I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to be there for you. What a relief to know you’re writing and still carrying on. I’m glad you had chats with Sarah and Beth and your Hub. That’s good. You have such good people around you, lifting you up 🙂
