Your fragile skin, so easily torn

Crumpled, wrinkled, rubbed and worn

Down by life – leaves you forlorn

You’re paper-thin

You have no armour on your soul

So simple to open a vein and bleed

Into the page – those words you need

Exsanguinated, finally freed

You’re paper-thin

You have no armour on your soul

Your smile so quickly turns to tears

Your hopes and dreams collide with fears

Off-balance in your maelstrom years

You’re paper-thin

You have no armour on your soul

Yet storms will also turn to light

Your sunshine future burning bright

Spirit warrior – fly and fight

You’re paper-thin

You have no armour on your soul

This piece was inspired by the article ‘The Paper-Thin People‘, by Rachel E. Blesdoe, who blogs at Misfits of a Mountain Mama, and who writes most beautifully.

  1. Am so happy to see these words in a proper post. Every word demands more room than a comment section. Thank you with all my heart. I don’t think I’ve inspired any poetry in 15 years.

Bless your boots. I’m so glad you liked it! *grinning* Well, now you’ve most definitely inspired poetry. And not too shabby, either (well, I would say that, but STILL!) πŸ™‚

While the poem is just lovely, its the style I love even more… What is it about a poem with those repeating lines just driving it home… awesome use of the style stuff… whatever the hell its called. I am catching up tonight. I finally figured out how to just stay zoe here and my other persona there… ironically (being one of said Bards) I read it all but dont get to show much here… UNTIL NOW!!!! BWAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
