Believe me, tha’art not the love of my life
Lo, nor thou the guardian of my heart
Ostensibly we were never together
Gladly, though, neither of us wish to depart
We never viewed this state with desirous eyes
In accidental writerliness there was no strife
For there, connected at the mind and
Eventually wed through words, we chose this hardwired life.
Prompt: Describe something in terms of what it is NOT.
Nice, Lizzi! Hardwired life…love.it.

Merci. And did you catch to whom I refer? I’m hoping it’s not COMPLETELY opaque…

Sadly, no. I did not catch exactly whom you mean…though I’m sure “she” refers to a female. And while the words “tha’art”, “Lo”, and “thou” are reminicent of The Bard to whom a certain poet has referenced her own name, t’would be unseemly, and more than a little egocentric, to assume the subject to be one’s own person. Therefore, I say to you, Verily, this poem must refer to one lovely writer lady you hold in some esteem and friendship. And to that I say, “Bravo, well done!”

*rolls eyes* I see I’m being too clever for my own good. It’s an acrostic.
(I do adore you, too tho β€ )

BLOGWIFW? LOL. Somehow I think it looses something in the spelling. π
(all comments are with A LOT of tongue in cheek today…I should have been less clever, too.)

Wait. Who gets to be the smart one? Out of the two of us, you’re the only one published. Officially anyways…I’m not even published yet. π

SHE does! Are you tongue-in-cheeking again? You MUST know who my Blogwife is by now or you’ve been under a SERIOUSLY BIG ASS ROCK! :p

What???? Like you don’t have a gazillion. And at least two of them are published…possibly more…and you’ve collected a lot. How could I POSSIBLY guess which one? I mean, it could be Beth, but that’d be like really obvious since she JUST got published.

The others are SisterWives. Beth’s the only Blogwife. I THOUGHT YOU KNEW ME! *pretends to be affronted*

I agree with others Lizzi – I enjoyed this a lot and the last line is definitely my favourite too, it is a killer, that whole first part too “Eventually wed through words”, classic. I also missed it was an acrostic on the first read until I read the comments but the fact that you managed to slip that in there suggests that the piece had enough power to hide it very well π

Why thank you very much indeed. There’s a whole back-story to how I ended up with a BlogWife, but it’s very sweet and…not on this blog, but it’s an adorable little story of serendipity and two writers who are apt to get a bit carried away.
Thank you for such wonderful compliments π
