Bleeding Skies

You smile I'm SunKissed

Each day I hold you

In my heart

Hoping (fingers crossed)

That it will turn out

Differently somehow

With lesser cost

Than this;

Watching you fall upon

That nightshade sword

And, injured,

Bare yourself –

Your spirit poured –

Across the

Bleeding skies.

Your fading light

Elicits anguished

Heart-strung cries:

I’m on my knees

Eyes teardropped

Calling out your name.

Wavering, you smile;

I’m sun-kissed.

You’ll be back again.

I stand once more

Twinned in darkness,

Assured of victory;

Waiting, star-lit

‘Til you return

And cover me in glory.

      Thanks so much, Mark. I was particularly pleased about the ending and the parallels I drew between bouts of depression and the sun reappearing again (presumably to go through it all again at some point, but at least still HERE) šŸ™‚ – I’m glad you picked up on the hope.
